Vote Benjamin Shepherd.
Direct Democracy. Less Taxes. Better Recreation.
Less Taxes.
Property taxes have reached unprecedented levels, placing a major burden on the people of Okotoks. Meanwhile, the current council has continued to approve tax increases, along with raising their own wages & pensions. I am committed to reducing property taxes & cutting council wages, demonstrating that we are all in this together, and that the leadership should share in both the challenges & the progress of our town. Our future depends on fairness & shared responsibility, and I will work to ensure that everyone, including council members, contributes to our community’s development.
Direct Democracy
I believe true democracy means government of, for, and by the people. I have confidence in Okotoks voters’ maturity, and think it’s time we have more direct control over how our money is spent. I want residents to decide on wage increases for government officials, and have a stronger voice in protecting & expanding our freedoms. Moving toward direct democracy will build trust, and ensure decisions reflect the community’s will. Okotoks values the people’s input, and I want to build on that foundation to empower everyone to shape our town’s future together.
Grassroots
I am dedicated to connecting with all Okotoks residents, welcoming your ideas on addressing overspending, high taxes, and wasteful council practices. Excessive taxes strain families and businesses, while wasteful spending diverts funds from vital services & growth. My focus is on responsible budgeting, transparency, and prioritizing Okotoks resident’s needs. By working together, we can build trust and create a more efficient, inclusive, and prosperous future for Okotoks. Your concerns will always guide my commitment to serving our community.
Better Recreation
As a resident of Okotoks, I understand how our rapid growth has stretched our recreational facilities beyond their limits. Many of us feel the need for more parking, improved hockey rinks, and better swimming pools to support our families. I’m committed to advocating for a renewed focus on resources that truly reflect what our community wants & needs. Together, we can ensure Okotoks remains a vibrant, welcoming town where everyone’s voice is heard & valued. This is our town, and I’m here to represent you.
